Murals by Stewart Shuker

Why have a mural in your business or home?

Large murals directly on the wall add a deeper dimension to the character of a room.  Large canvases are wonderful, but they are not part of the room and they lack the 'conviction' of a mural.

If you are a business, murals are a cost effective way to add character to a space.  I always aim to create art which is 'Insta-worthy', or even 'Insta-compelling'.  We want customers to photograph themselves with the art and share with their friends.

Murals are exciting in home settings.  It is so unusual to see murals covering walls in homes, so when you do see it, it really stands out.  Even if the mural is discrete, emerging out from a corner along a wall, a mural in a home is unique.

I specialise in two distinct types of large murals:

  1. murals made from concrete render on brick
[existing wall or a wall which I construct]
  2. conventional painted acrylic paint murals of all sizes

1. Brick murals

These murals are classy, refined and striking.  You can not walk past one without stopping to look.  These murals are super unique as there are only a couple of artists doing them and to the best of my knowledge I am the only person doing them in Australia.

I find that women's faces work particularly well in this medium, and whilst all of my brick murals have been inside, they are particularly well suited to being put on external walls as they are super durable.

I have put these murals on existing old walls and I have also built the wall from A-grade recycled old bricks and then put up the mural with render and paint.

If you have a house or business and you want something super unique and striking, you can't go wrong with this kind of mural.  I am excited at the thought of one day doing one of these murals on a wall outside beside pool; I think that would be amazing.

If you would like a quote please send me an email with the dimensions of the space and if possible a photo.

2.  Murals in acrylic paint

When it comes to painted murals, the sky is the limit and you are only limited by your imagination.

What I bring to murals in public spaces, businesses and homes is that I am a mature guy that looks at these murals from the perspective of the owner.  Sure there is the skill component of painting the painting, but the magic comes from the creative layer of coming up with something unique and on-point for your specific project.  I make sure the painting uses the space well, relates to the client or customers, is visible from various locations, is durable and works well when painted in my style.

This is my process:

  • I chat with the owner to get objectives and ideas
  • I take photos of the wall and mock up a handful of options
  • If possible I will project the options onto the wall with the owner to get a clearer idea of how the completed work will look.  If that is not possible I use an app that visualises an image on a wall
  • Once the client is happy I paint the mural
  • I love holding my mockup of the painting next to the completed painting and comparing the two with the client

Please check out my gallery/album for examples I have painted.
